      I totally agree. he's outstanding and deserves a lot more although awards are not everything! he's the coolest bloke on earth, and was superb in the late quartet. chris rocks

        I think it's his film choices. They aren't considered "oscar material". At least he's been nominated and he's even won.

              Bad luck. So many of the films he's been in were rubbish. Does5b4n't matter if you do a good job as an actor if the film is no good.

                Maybe because, just like Pacino, he won an Oscar when he was young and good and then he got so hammy that he almost looks like a parody of his earlier parts in most of his movies.

                  Well, he did win an Oscar for "Deer Hunter", and was up for the same award for "Catch me if you can".
