He was a huge part of my childhood. Forst movie I remember watching was "Haunted Honeymoon" which was like an old-school monster movie with comedy. Then of course we have classics like blazing saddles, the woman in red, stir crazy, see no evil hear no evil. His roles and chemistry with Richard Pryor are just top class, immortal comedy moments that never age in the fact they never fail to put a smile on my face.
I just watched an interview with him on Conan and he is as nice a guy it seems to have talked to as he was portrayed to be on screen.

I think I saw that interview. It was good to see him so happy and Conan O'Brien was clearly a very big fan. Gene Wilder is one of those entertainers who could do it all.
