My guess is that until your thread he'd never heard of Gene Wilder.
Anyway I've enjoyed him in everything I've seen. There is only one Willy Wonka and it's not Johnny Depp!
Mr. Stein in Will and Grace was another favourite.

He was on the verge of laughing all the time as Mr.Stein! W and G was all about Karen and Jack for me.
Remember Gene's character in the Woman in Red being stalked by his real life wife Gilda Radner? That was hilarious

The Woman in Red stuff was hilarious though, talk about some next level stuff (Dudley Moore's "Crazy People" was on that same money!)
