Midnight is my absolute favorite. He's both hysterical and gorgeous.
I liked his role in Oscar, although it was small. And of course Cocoon - but Midnight is my favorite. It really needs a DVD release!

What did you guys think of "The Magnificent Dope"? I think he was great with Henry Fonda. "Down Argentine Way" is also another of my favorite Ameche films. Hopefully one day I can see "Midnight" on TCM.

I absolutely loved him in "Heaven Can Wait". I have the film and have watched it several times over the years. He was just perfect in this role - sort of a "bad boy" of the turn of the century, but very loving and oh so charming. I highly recommend this movie to all Don Ameche fans.

Having only seen his later movies, I must say I really liked him as Mortimer Duke in Trading Places. He and Ralph Bellamy together as the Duke Brothers were a fantastic combo. Anyone know if they ever starred in any other movie together? (besides "Coming to America" that is)

Harry and the Hendersons
Wing and a Prayer
Trading Places
Cocoon 1&2
Coming to America
All the older movies from the 30's onward. He was great in anything and he was so darned good looking!
He was a great host on International Showtime. -

Don Ameche also had a stage career in musical comedy. Around 1974 in Houston, I saw him in "No, No Nanette." It is the musical comedy made famous by "Tea for Two." Mr. Ameche had a beautiful bass voice, and his stage performance was excellent. I also like all his movies. In his later years he was a panelist on quiz shows and always was charming and entertaining.
