Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Don Ameche

It's interesting to note that after his wife's death in 1986 he never remarried. So if he really felt that he didn't have a real marriage he certainly didn't make up for any lost time with the ladies.
Also, I found it very interesting to learn on the 1999 A&E Biography that he and Tyrone Power, a notorious sack hopper with both women and men, were very close and liked to clown around a lot, according to Alice Faye. But, of course, that doesn't mean anything. I just found it interesting.
He had very strong religious beliefs and perhaps that kept him out of trouble. Hollywood trouble, that is.

Well, he and his wife separated I think in the 60s, but I don't know if he had any romantic interests after that. But it does seem that he was a very faithful husband and he made sure that Honey (his wife's nickname) was taken care of.

Ameche admitted that he had a mistress in the years following his separation. Of course he was very coy with Roger Ebert over this most likely because he was trying to highlight how "religion is most important to me" attitude. Ameche admits that he "slipped" a few times, but he shrugs it off as if he's a little beyond reproach.
