How awful for you. An actor who didn't live up to your expectations. Welcome to reality, dude. If I had idiots who followed my every move, and even knew when I step out for a cigarette, hell, I'd have bodyguards too. Who wanda0ts to be a stalking statistic?
I don't know Bakula, and I'm not his publicist or anything, but I would bet my last dollar that he's the kind of guy who would love to appease all of his fans if he could. If he did, he'd never have the time for a private life. There are tremendous demands on his time, and his attention. Maybe he is a "plonker" (just what the hell does that even mean?) as you say, but I'd say the things you are writing about Bakula makes you a wee bit of a plonker yourself. -

He doesn't smoke. However, if what the above poster said was true, perhaps he was nervous being in another country and all. Maybe he did have a smoke to calm his nerves? Not every one at comic con would have been a fan of his so he had a reason to be nervous probably.

Spotted Scott shopping for toys on Hollywood Blvd this afternoon (yeah, just 2 days before Christmas). I'm not sure what he bought, but he had a couple of large bags - full of goodies. Then he came into one of the memorabilia shops to use his cell phone. Seems like a really nice guy!

I met Mr. Bakula a couple of times.
He is very polite and down-to-earth. The first time I met him was in 2002 and he was super nice and and years later, when I met him again, he was still the charming and a nice person.
Ciao babes -

maybe, but how would you know?
Due to the fact that he went xmas shoppng and used your cell phone? Is that all it takes, or all it takes for movie stars? -

He didn't use "my" cellphone. I don't even have a cellphone - lol. He used his own. Also, he was extremely friendly towards everyone who approached him. Don't know where you live, but here in L.A. it is pretty well-known which "stars" are nice and which aren't. The majority that I've met over the years have been gracious and approachable. As for Scott he has a well-known reputation here in L.A. for being one of Hollywood's "nicest" stars. There are others as well that share that same reputation, but some who definitely don't.
Oh, and by the way, it is unfair to judge anyone based on what profession they are in. There are "nice" and "not so nice" people in every profession. I have family members, neighbors and friends who work in the entertainment profession so my perspective is going to be different. Are there "jerks" in the industry? Of course there arebut there are also a lot of very nice people too. -

Mr Tanna
You're not getting what I'm saying.
If a seral killer came into you store and charmed everybody,is that a test of his niceness?
So, are we speaking about social niceties, or the real deal? Until you lived with, married,or really know a given person, you don't know how "nice" they are or not. Is that not common sense? Now, if I questioned a regular person(non-actor)would you rush to their defense?
All we can go on is our perception, and perhaps our perception is right more often than not,but we cannot be certain.
Scott may the next to God for all we know, but you cannot ascertain that by what you described.
Do you know how many people I have met in life who are so sweet and friendly on the surface, until you see them for their real colors? It's a fact of life.
..now I'm not even getting into judging people by their profession. -

" met him in london and to be honest i thought he was a jumped up little fool, loved himself and strolled round with bouncers and when he went for a cigarette he would not go out inless there were no people, sorry but a plonker if i ever met one"
I can't judge Scott personally, but why should people be surprised if it's true, because you like his performing?
Look at the profession he's in. -

Scott is one of the nicest people you could ever wa5b4nt to meet. I worked with him as an intern for Universal on Quantum Leap back in 1992-93 when I was a student at CSUN. He was very down to earth and never put on a front. He made everyone feel like they were an intricate part of the show, even an intern. He would include me like one of the crew when he didn't have to. I interned on the show for the last season and it was one of the best times of my life. What an experience with wonderful people and true professionals! I saw Scott a few years later when he appeared on the Rosie O'Donnell show. I was in the audience attending the taping. I was in the second row from the front and during a commercial break, I told someone on the main floor that I had worked with Scott. They went up and told him and after he was done with his next segment, he came up to me and gave me a hug calling me by my name! I was floored he remembered me, let alone my name! I will always be thankful for knowing him and wish him success always!

That's awesome Jellybean. Lucky you, for sure.
Wondered then, if you could put my mind at ease, given the OP's recounting: does Mr Bakula smoke?
Lunabean wrote not, but didn't give any background for validation.
Thanks in advance.
and my brain makes such pretty pictures -

He's a singer and smoking effects your voice cords. The numerous times I met him, I didn't smell cigarette smoke on him or his clothing. I would know I'm allergic to cigarette smoke cause it would cause an asthma attack. He also didn't have any cologne on either, or I would have had another asthma attack. He may not smoke full time, just now and then like some of my friends used to do.
