Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — John Barrymore

Has anyone ever read or seen this play? It's a comedy about Barrymore's ghost haunting a famed TV actor who lives in his apartment into playing Hamlet. It's worth checking out either by avid fans of Shakespeare or Barrymore or both. I auditioned for it but it's fun enough just to see.

I saw it in NYC when it came out. The entrance of Nicol Williamson as John Barrymore was stellar theater but it was all downhill from there. Many facts wrong about JB, or totally out of sequence. Williamson did a one-man show on Broadway as JB and I saw it, too. He was pretty good, but his research on the details of JB's life and career were excellent.
