Great idea LarryLOL. There were many actresses in her day not nearly as over the top bad. It worked in ALL ABOUT EVE because she was meant to be a Conniving Back Stabbing whore. Other than that she made her marl on THE LOVE BOAT. LOL

Well, I'd say that you hit the nail on the head with your assessment of Ms. Baxter's acting style. I've never cared for her. Her acting style always kind of reminded me of Susan Hayward's. It's probably why I never cared for Hayward either. Except for a film she did in '46, Deadline at Dawn. I absolutely love her in that.

She was never subtle that's for sure but she got the job done. The Ten Commandments was the best example of "over acting" (maybe that was the style back then, like Natalie Wood or Susan Hayward perhaps). As kids we would imitate that exaggerated drama. "Mo-ses! Moe-oh-oh-ses," and dramatically 16d0fall to the floor grabbing ankles.
