Actually The actions of those who stepped over her as if she was a pile of POOP are a sad commentary on the lack of compassion an5b4d COMMON DECENCY of our society as a whole!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNFORTUNATELY it seems to be the rule and NOT the exception!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly, there were reports that after she had collapsed, other people simply stepped over her or walked around her as she lay on the sidewalk. None of them tried to help her.
That's absolutely sickening. -

Anne was a beautiful witty, charming woman. Her loss at such a young age was a terrible shock and a loss to the film industry.
I believe it was December 6 that Anne was felled by a massive stroke. She had just come out of her hairdresser's shop on the Upper East Side. She had several bags as she had done some early Christmas shopping. As she hailed a cab, she staggered forward. A young woman grabbed her, then Ann slumped against a parked car. An ambulence was called and if I remember correctly, a representative from the beauty shop may have ridden with her to Lenox Hill. Suffice it to say it was a terrible tragedy.
Sadly, the extent of her brain damage was severe. She lingered for a week on a respirator before passing. It was a very sad time for her family.
Ironically, Anne claimmed to have never been sick a day in her life and she was always a welcome and stylish addition to the NY social scene. -

Your comment is probably the most accurate. The one I heard was she was hailing a cab and she was stricken. Staggering, she collapsed on the sidewalk. People did step over her because they thought she was drunk. A telephone repair man helped her and called an ambulance where she was rushed to Lenox Hill. She was comatose until December 12th, when she died.
Very sad. She was and still is one of the classy greats. I will never forget when I saw her on Broadway in Applause back in 1971. My first time seeing a Broadway show, and it was with Anne Baxter! She used to send me signed photos from time to time.
My favorite roles of hers are in The Blue Gardenia, The Spoilers, Ten Commandments, One Desire, her appearance on Columbo called Requiem For A Falling Star, and last but not least Mrs. Victoria Cabot in Hotel. -

During a break in filming Hotel, while visiting New York City from her residence in Connecticut, attempting to hail a cab, she fell to the street after suffering a stroke and was taken to a New York hospital. Anne Baxter lingered for eight days dying at age 62 from a brain aneurysm.

If this is true then that is why I feel very little for the people of Ne5b4w York during 9/11 and before and after..Lets keep in mind that the wall street scumbags..And yes that is Men and Women caused our current financial meltdown
