I never met a black woman named Molly first of all. She needed a role that would be embraced by every demographic. She was playing a white woman who was an astronaut. I think she needed a vehicle that was more realistic and the general public could relate to. No she shouldn't have been playing Cookie from Empire..but a district attorney with a past or something that is a thriller would have been more her speed. I knew before it aired it was a flop and she should have also. Sci-fi thrillers really don't do well when women lead them. I hate to say it but it is true.

Please, not another lawyer show.
The problem wasn't the character, but the writing. There were people who wanted to watch the show but gave up on it because of the bad writing. They especially lost direction by the second season.
As for women leads and sci-fi thrillers: the first 3 Alien movies did well, Hunger Games, Divergent Series, Terminator, etc. The problem is that 99% of this genre have male leads because they assume women don't like sci-fi. -

I'm sure Halle's paychecks don't indictate the show being a mistake. I agree it was dull and boring, but her name on the show shouldn't be a factor. How many black women are named Halle? What's the difference? Halle has never been a stereotypical black woman. It's why she has always stood out from the Vivica Fox's and Taranji Henson's. She's like Lena Horne that way. In a class of her own. I'd like to see her in something worthy of her like the biography of Lena, but she's too old for that part now unless they focus on Lena's later years. Halle was superb as Dorothy Dandridge, another star who1354 did not dare be a stereotype.
Actors are useless without the power of a good writer's imagination -

You're kidding, right? You actually believe the show failed because YOU'VE never met an African American woman named Molly? I've never even seen the show but your reasoning is faulty. Who says she was playing a white woman?
In our screwed up world the light at the end of the tunnel is likely an oncoming train
