! Cate is a treasure in every way, I just idolise her. I completely agree that she's the best actress working today, her range and breadth of talent seemingly know no bounds. I honestly believe that someone who had no knowledge of Cate could watch (off the top of my head) Little Fish, Bandits and then Carol and have absolutely no idea that they're watching the same actress in all three films, such is her crazy ability to be utterly chameleon-like with her roles.
Like the announcer at Canne F.F. asked, "How can you not fall in love with Cate Blanchett"? Exactly. This lady is funny, intelligent, articulate, talented beyond anyone human, a goddess of many who dream, self-deprecating (making her all the more desirable), sexy as hell and a fashionista on top of all that.
I agree so much, it's honestly beyond me how anyone could watch Cate on screen (or on stage) and then watch an interview with her and see how warm, witty, intelligent and funny (not to mention gorgeous) she is in person and not fall in love.
I love her sense of humour in particular, she's so quick witted and charismatic that it's a delight to watch an interview with her. She's also not afraid to call annoying entertainment journalists out on their sh!t (in a good natured way) which is hilarious, I remember when she did that fake interview with an Australian media outfit when she was promoting Cinderella, so funny.
Because Cate news has been so slow lately (what with her busy filming Thor and now Ocean's Eight), I've been keeping myself entertained by watching these fab 'Cate Blanchett Moments' YouTube videos made by a Cate fan who has compiled together some of her best interview and red carpet clips. Thanks so much. I am glad you agree. Reading negative comments gets so tiresome. With todays' instant social media, everyone is a critic. But this goddess of whom we speak, deserves nothing but the highest praise for her lifetime of achievements, IMHO. What a talented lady and what a gorgeous creature.

I would like to say one last thing. I could watch her fill in a kid's coloring book. She could make that interesting. I have no words for that "it" factor she has, but certainly glad she chose acting. Think what we all would have missed if she didn't. She's like seeing one of the master's paintings for the first time or hearing Beethoven at a wonderful symphony. She's celestial, yet ephemeral b/c you don't know when you'll experience the Blanchett effect again. You don't want to let go. You want more. You don't want to wait. Whatever that gripping, mesmerizing thing she has going on, I can only hope it carries her into old age so that at 80 years-old we shall still crave that glimpse of uniqueness that very few people are blessed to share with the world.

What I think is the most inte5b4resting about Cate is that there is always another layer. She is a celebrity but she is also down to earth. She can look like 5 million dollars star but she can also be relatable. She is a fashionista but she is not just a rack for some pretty dresses. She is beautiful but also incredibly intelligent (not that the two are in some sort opposition as Cate shows). She is literally woman of many layers. Just like the best women are.
And that wonderfully projects on her career. She easily stars in blockbuster movies that make billions at Box Office, but she is so much into indie movies and they represent the essence of her work. She can be just as natural as she can theatrical. She can be divine, serene, out-of-earth but she can also be very human, moving even complete wreck. And that is the best quality in one actress. She is so intelligent in her approach to acting that you can truly witness a piece of art being created.
I think that we are having a woman whose career will be one of the longest in Hollywood. I consider her an Aussie version of Streep or Dame Maggie Smith, with great humility being mixed with one of the most extraordinary talents we have ever seen.
A lot more can be said about her, but it all comes down to what Galadriel once said: "All shall love me" -

I totally agree with you. Your splendid description says so much more than I could put into words. I love that line "all shall love me". It is so succinct and on point. Men , women, children , most of humanity find her irresistible when she owns the camera. She was born to own it and was smart enough to recognize it. One can only hope, she never gives it up.

Totally agree with this, it's why Cate succeeds where so many lesser actors fail. Yes, she's a brilliant actress (the best if you ask me) but her popularity isn't entirely based on that, it also comes from her class, elegance, intelligence, sense of humour and how she never takes herself too seriously. Like you say, there's always another layer. She's a fascinating person.

We can all only hope! God, I hope she never gives up acting, even if she ends up only doing one film a year or something like that. The world needs your special brand of awesome, Cate! I genuinely think in 20 years time she will have racked up a few more oscars (perhaps overtaking Streep in total nominations if we dare hope?) and will be every bit as much of a legend of her time as Katharine Hepburn. She's certainly on her way there already.

Cate has proven through the years (but I don't think of her as old, as she does at times, lol), that the myriad personalities she reveals to us are just the tip of the iceberg that constitutes the entirety of this most complicated, interesting, intelligent human that few probably are allowed to begin to understand. That's a good thing, though. What she has also shown is she can be funny, shy, a fashionista, as you say, articulate, and many other layers beneath. These things are not mutually exclusive and this woman embodies just that.

I wasn't going to post after my last entry b/c I remember C.B. saying in an interview at some point, she is a little leery of positive comments made on her behalf , in general. However, as humble as she seems, she'll have to deal with some1c84 effusive remarks from those of us who appreciate her as "Cate the Great".
I agree with her during one of the award show speeches she said, to paraphrase, that essentially women can bring in equal amounts at the box office as men. ITA, b/c there are so may interesting films in the 20th century where a female is the protagonist. i.e. Scarlett O'Hara, Clarice Starling, Mary Poppins, Holly Golightly, Bonnie Parker, Nurse Ratched, Mrs. Robinson, Blanche Dubois, Norma Desmond, Mildred Pierce, and so many more.
C.B., with her long line of eclectic characters, no doubt will be remembered right up there with the best the movie industry had to offer. So I hope the support of her fans does not lend itself to suspicion on her part b/c most of us feel the accolades are warranted. -

It's so cute how Cate gets all flustered when someone compliments her face to face, and how she automatically tries to deflect it back on them. It shows how humble she is. I wonder how embarrassed she'd get if she happened to read this thread. -

In this she reminds me of Dame Maggie Smith, who just like Cate, grew up in a country where the idea of Hollywood-like movie star, doesn't exist. The work is what they do, they act because they like the art and there is something cathartic in bringing different characters to life.
It is so wonderful to see someone so down-to-earth in midst of Hollywood craziness. And that is why she will forever be remembered
