Why did he bail at Dragon*Con in Atlanta?

Beau Bridges was scheduled to appear in several panels with fans at the convention, Dragon*Con, in Atlanta during Labor Day Weekend, as part of the Stargate track. Although he posed for pictures and signed autographs (all money making ventures for him), he did not attend either of the two panels he had been promoted as attending.
Was he there just for the money?
