Since there was no plastic surgeries at that time I think she looked very young in that movie! She was 55 years old at that time! amazing! I always thought that she was about 30 or 35 years old
What do you think about that? do you think she really looked young? -

She still looked young in 1945 when she made "The Man Who Came to Dinner." She must have just had really good genes (or an amazing make-up and cameraman). I don't know if she ever had plastic surgery or when it was invented, but I know that Marilyn Monroe had it on her nose at sometime in the late 1040's. But my guess is that Billie was just blessed with a youthful appearance. She was still really cute in the 1960's.

Just watched the movie again, for the umpteenth time since childhood, and I wanted to chime in on this thread.
Yes, Billie Burke was very beautiful. While filming the Wizard of Oz, she has a bit more weight on her than her much younger years, and some wrinkles around her eyes; but they don't make her look any worse than "definitely over 30".
In fact, in the past I always thought she had too many wrinkles for her age, since I was guessing that she was much younger than her actual 55 years at the time!
Great genes, a good diet, and taking care of your skin (and general health!) make a huge difference over a lifetime. Also tanning wasn't usual while Miss Billie Burke was growing up, being made popular by Coco Chanel some decades later. So that's a huge difference compared to today's usual sunbathing population among 'movie stars'.
Anyway, she was quite lovely in this role, and her adorable soft, kind, but squeaky, voice is perfect for the character.
She must have good genes or something.
