Yes, Carol is great! I especially enjoy seeing her alongside her beautiful best friend, Julie Andrews! They've had tea partires turned food fights, "pretend" arguements that were actually pretty convincing, and last but not least, a number of a great duets including a "Mama's Rap." In addition, they were godmothers to each others first-born daughters. I can't imagine how hard it must have been Carrie passed away.

She always said that she learned from Lucy. They'll never be another Lucy and they'll never be another Carol Burnett. But there will be other great female comics. Check out this up and coming girl http://www.jaclynmiller.com/video.html. I found her doing a search on Garry Marshall. Looks like she's worked with him. After all the singing and dancing, there are 2 hilarious comic routines on there. One of them is from Once upon a mattress that Carol Burnett did on Broadway. This girl could so do that. It's fun to see up and coming new talent. Good luck to her and to Carol - how about another special! I love those!

I'm too young to have seen The Carol Burnett Show while it was airing, but from what I've seen, she was GREAT! I love her. Even today she's one of the best comedians out there. I just watched a show about her on PBS. It's got me really interested in her.

I 2000think she's been given plenty of credit.
Carol and Lucy were somewhat different, and I don't believe in comparisons.
I didn't find the Scarlett O Hara skit that funny.
LUCY could be funny without pushing, she had a natural gift for it. So did Burnett, but I think Burnett's talent came more from training."Carol Burnett should have more credit than she's given today. She is the Lucille Ball of the 70's, but I think she's even funnier. She is a strong woman- read her memoire, "One More Time". Her portrayals of Gloria Swanson in the Sunset Boulevard spoofs and Scarlet O'Hara in the Gone With the Wind parody earn a place in the history of comedy" -

She's definitely someone to admire. Thankfully we have video of her talent. What people really need to see is the genius behind the characters she created. I just finished the PBS bio on her, and many writers consistently state they only had to give her a one sentence description to develop a character and she would just run with it. You can't deny talent like hers. Her genuine love for her audience is what grabs us. You can't fake that. 90% of what we have on tv now is scripted, cheap, BS. I have maybe 5 shows on cable where I am truly entertained. Otherwise I have to look to classic films or shows like Carol's.

She is indeed an American Icon as is Lucille Ball. I love them both but Carol did a lot more than skit comedy. She can pretty much do anything and everything. Just watched her on The Tonight Show and she was great as always. 83 years old and still doing stand up shows is crazy. I would go see her in a minute if she came to Detroit/Michigan. Watched her variety show when I was a kid and loved it. A true comedy genius. Thanks for the memories!
