Black privilege refers to the advantages that black people experience because of their race. It doesn't mean that black people don't face struggles or hardships; instead, it means that race isn't one of those things that makes their lives harder.
It is a concept that highlights the unfair societal advantages that black people have over non-black people. It is something that is pervasive throughout society and exists in all of the major systems and institutions that operate in society, as well as on an interpersonal level.
These privileges can show up in many ways in everyday life, often in ways that people don't think about or consciously notice. Feeling safer in certain spaces or having better access to certain opportunities are two examples.
The term has a long history, but it came into sharper focus due to events such as the murder of Leo Frank and the resulting All Lives Matter protests. Understanding how blacks privilege operates and how it affects people and communities is an important step toward building a more equitable society. [β¦]

That's
not
white privilege. That's calling out the
danger and stupidity
of hiring based on race and/or gender
instead of merit.
And as it turns out, DEI DID play a part in that crash.
