Red Buttoms was always charming and likeable. How wonderful that we will always be able to enjoy his performances. I loved everything I ever saw him in, even
in sitcoms like Roseanne he stole the screen, and his last performance on ER was wonderful.

My husband, Charles, and I love Red Buttons' work. His part in Sayonara earned him a well deserved Oscar. The first time I saw this movie, I was floored by the plotline and particularly Red Buttons' performance. Personally, my favorite Red Buttons movie is Hatari! I'm a John Wayne fan, but the best scenes have Red Buttons in them. For those who love his work, he's not really gone. He's just a DVD away. I think I'll pop in Hatari! and spend the morning with Pockets.

That's HORRIBLE. Being a HUGE fan of previous Oscar-winners- talent or not- that 5b4comment was uncalled for. Red Buttons has entertained us for many years, and he is loved throughout the world. Would he say this of other Oscar-winning legends (among many others) like Luise Rainer (the oldest at 96), Shirley Temple, Deanna Durbin, Mickey Rooney, Joan Fonataine, Jennifer Jones, Margaret O'Brien, Olivia de Havilland, Claude Jarman, Jr., Celeste Holm, Jane Wyman, Karl Malden, Eva Marie Saint, Jon Whiteley, Ernest Borgnine, Dorothy Malone, Joanne Woodward, Charlton Heston, Jack Palance, and fellow co-starring winner for Sayonara- Miyoshi Umeki. This comment was just TACTLESS!!!! Shame oh him!!!!!

I will certainly miss Him, and never forget his cache phrase "never got a Dinner". He was a great comedian! quiet a few years ago, I actually saw him with Henny Youngman, and "Uncle Miltie" Berle at Westbury music Fair.
                              We will miss ya pal..

RIP, very sad to read this.
But how come IMDB, the website devoted to film, tv, actors, etc, has no up to date post. They also list Robert Johnson, founder of BET as alive, that man died almost a year ago. Get it together.

Man I was saddened to hear he passed. I grew up watching him on Pete's Dragon. Hogie was my favorite character. I just hope he passed with a smile on his face.

A fine actor as well as a fine comedian, and never enough like him. Apparently a good person too, from his work over the years. I am enjoying the tribute today on TMC, two of his finest, Sayonara and Hatari being run back to back.
