"Is this the times of slavery? What do you mean 1/4 Japanese? "
You are the one who acts like they are going by the days of slavery laws when it comes to race. You stated flat out that Dean is Asian American. But, he is also white. You are acting like the non-white blood totally cancels out any white he would have.
The other poster only brought up the % of Japanese he is to make that point. He's alot of other things and Japanese isnt't the majority of it. So why you try to label him is silly. Come on it's 2006. Join the rest of the world and stop trying to see everyone as a race or color. -

He was adopted by Mr. Cain. His name is legally (done when he was a child and has been for years, obviously) Cain. I doubt he is ignoring his Asian roots. It is just a small part of the many things he is. I'm Irish, Scottish, English, French, and Cherokeea typical American. It is just as aspect of my DNA. I'm plain ol' Loralee. And he probably just thinks of himself as plain ol' Dean. Why is this so important to you, Bjorkpluto?
Just some food for thought,
Peace, Y'all!

No joke. Plus I read an article once where he marched in an Amernian parade and helped some Armenians out. He's not even close to being middle eastern, but he did that because it touched his heart.

first of all even keanu never met his chinese biological father. has anyone
ever commented on keanu saying hes ashamed of being part chinese?
i dont think anyones ever noticed it.
if dean cain was embarassed to be part asian, he is going to tell his
agent to not put asian or japanese on his i m d b mini bio, ok?
you guys do realize they pay to have their pictures and bio put
up on here, right???
lastly, theres this half filipino half latino girl named
rachel bilson, shes in "the o.c." , now, shes never
mentioned being half asian, a couple of months ago
her mini bio said shes half filipino, now after people
on her message board started questioning that, it was removed
or deleted (the mini bio part where it said shes half asian)
so there you go.

maybe he doesnt ignore it. maybe its just that it was his birth name, and was raised by the cain's in a culture that wasnt asian. i know people adopted from korea raised by italians, they know their korean names, but the only father and mother they know are their adoptive italian parents. they consider themselves italian. they dont ignore their korean heritage, they just werent raised around it, and are more used to italian culture.

I don't think he is ashamed of his asian roots cause look at this:
His biological father was half Japanese, which accounts for the ethnic contours of Cain's face.
Though he's seen two photos of the man and knows his name, the two have never talked or met.
For now, that's the way he wants it, and he jokes that his biggest fear is that one day his
mother will show up on Oprah.
"He's not something I think about, ever," Dean says, though he admits to having become more
curious about his heritage as he's gotten older. But he's fiercely loyal when he says: "I feel
like I'm disrespecting Chris Cain by talking about this other guy. He could have been dead
before I was born, and I wouldn't know the difference."
This came from some interview, so I think for him Christopher Cain is his dad and he just took the name cuz it's also his "dad's" name! And I also think he didn't just called his son also christopher because he likes the name so much I think he did cause he really respects christopher cain -

I find it so amazing that so many people are so racially conscious. Who cares what race anyone is? A person of light skin could be from anywhere on this planet. A person from dark skin too. A person with "slanted" eyes could be from any of the hundreds of countries with Asian influence. Is it just America, or is the entire planet so in tune with this absurd train of thought? You look at someone, take in their appearance, reach your own conclusions and go on with your life! Plus, if you've read anything at all on Dean Cain, he has mentioned AD NAUSEAM that his biological father is Japanese, he was never close to him as his parents were divorced when he was an infant, his mother subsequently married Christopher Cain, who adopted him legally and gave him his last name. Now, if he had changed his last name because he wanted to, or for the heck of it, why does it matter? Why is racial identification so important to so many people!!!???

Well, because that's the way it is. People want to be different from each other. Our differences make us unique. To know where we came from. To honor our heritage. If we are all similar, then life would be such a bore.
So, how did you manage to hurt you back? By running away from good taste?
