All I have to say to the people out there who can't possibly live their lives without analyzing others and trying desperately to find flaws, all I have to say to you is that whenever you get the feeling of starting a new pathetic whiny thread like this one take a look at Dean Cain's happy face pictures. The guy is rich and famous, and he's got more to live for then any of you sorry-a$$e$. If you don't like your life, don't take it on others. It will only backfire even more.

Says who? Who decides who is Asian, who is white, who is black, etc? He's multiracial and multiethnic. H2000e's French-Canadian American, Irish American, Welsh-American and Japanese American. You're trying to box him into one neat little category despite his diverse background. Why, I don't know.

Even if he did "ignore his Asian roots" I wouldn't blame him for doing so. His 1/2 Japanese father abandoned his mother while he was in the womb, so it isn't as though we should expect him to have a strong connection to Asian culture. There's also the sad fact that in Hollywood, Asian men aren't considered leading man material. It is stupid, but true. I'm not saying he denies his Asian roots, but he obviously doesn't go around proclaiming his Asianness from the rooftops. When people have to constantly announce their affiliation with a particular race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, etc it makes them seem totally insecure about who they are. -

Second, when Dean Cain started his own production company, he named it "Angry Dragon Entertainment", an obvious allusion to his Asian heritage.

You're wrong on both accounts. The American media does not refer to Dean Cain as just a white man, and if you insist on saying they do, prove it. I have never heard anyone in the American (or foreign, for that matter) media refer to him as solely a European American. The problem you have is that they don't apparently go out of the way to stress his Asian heritage. Well, that's your problem.
You also don't have any idea what you are talking about when you refer to his "real last name." His real last name is the name he chose to take and legally go by. Period. Does it also upset you Henry Rollins no longer goes by Henry Garfield? Get over yourself.

Iam mixed. My mother is Chinese and my father is french. Because of this i do have a European surname and i don't look asian at all. I look like Fran descher and i have very pale skin as well just like her. Most ppl can not pick out that iam 50% asian. Alot of ppl i've told that iam 1/2 asian have actually thought i was lying to them until they see family photo's of me sitting next to a bunch of my asian family members. haha
For me i don't deny or ignore that iam half Asian. I am proud of it but most of the times i just end up telling ppl i meet for the first time iam Caucasion and white because i do have problems with convincing ppl iam 50% asian and also when i tell ppl for the first time. it normally ends up being a 1 hour conversation on how i am half asian and how they never can guess and sometimes how they think iam lyeing to the1c84m about being half asian. Because of that i just often tell ppl i am caucasion. Does it mean iam ashamed of it? No. Does it mean i am ignoring it? No. It just means that I am freaking sick of having the same conversation over and over and over and over and over again about me being mixed.
So to many ppl dissing dean cain saying he is ashamed or ignoring his roots. You don't understand what it's like to be mixed so STFU! -

I dont know anyone as fascinated by roots as Americans.
For most of the world is simple, they are where they are born and spend zero time on finding out if a distant ancestor was born somewhere else.
How many generations before you are just American?
I am Dutch, because I knew three generation on my mothers side I know that they were all Dutch aswell, beyond no clue, fathers side I have no idea if there are Germans, French or even Polish ancestors and nor do I care.
Again I am simply Dutch and my skin tone says I am white, who knows if I have an African ancestor somewhere along the line.
Its not important, but you Americans with your Welsh, Italian, Irish, achinese etc blood,mwhy the hell do you care?
Obviously your ancestors wanted to leave their countries behind and now you all hold onto it with such desoeration.
Why?
Seems like a breeding ground for racism and hatred
