That's not entirely true. It's a different sort of creativity than the kind where a filmmaker is allowed to tell the story they envisioned. It's a more restrictive sort of creativity where filmmakers are forced to cut corners and do more telling than showing, or force audiences to fill in the blanks with their own imagination. It's basically novelistic storytelling. That works for some movies, but not for all of them.
I can't imagine these movies are your cup of tea, but the Lord of the Rings movies would've ****in sucked if Peter Jackson was given a much smaller budget to work with.
