If he were alive today….

Only seen him in the Godfather films but it certainly amazes me that his only 5 films have all been huge critical successes. That's no coincidence.
If you go on to Pacino and De Niro's IMDB pages, they have made so many duds, yet this guy has a 100% record. Tragic loss. Always looks so innocent in his films. He made Fredo. -

"Imagine if he got roles in Goodfellas and Raging Bull"
My thoughts exactly! Not to mention Casino, the Aviator, the Departedand I bet Pacino would've recruited him for Scent of a Woman & Heat.

It's really heartbreaking. He would have been a staple of Scorcese films and/or any cop show you can think of. So much talent there.
Meryl Streep, though married and with kids, still speaks of him as the great love of her life.
"I'm smart, not dumb." KILLS me every time. Especially when you know he's really gone. -

Pipe,
Your point is well-made, but your grammar and spelling are horrible
It is amazing that John Cazale was in 3 Oscar winning films and another Oscar nominated film out of 5 feature films he was in. My question is, where is his honorary acknowledgment or achievement award from the academy? He is definitely among my top 10 favorite actors. -

I'm sure your comments concerning Pipe's grammar and spelling made him/her not only feel better, but also begin using grammar and spelling in a way that'll please you, Angel. Why do so many people feel the need to belittle and insult other people? How does that make anything better ever?
John Cazale was fantastic, a one-of-a-kind character actor. It's obviously a tremendous tribute to John that he remains such an indelible figure to so many of us. I'm glad we have five great movies to appreciate and enjoy him in. -

I agree 100%. Such a shame. He was a fantastic actor, it would've been so exciting to see him in other films, he would've won a few Oscars by now I bet.

Small correction, ALL the movies he appeared in were nominated, even the one in which he "appeared" through archive footage. Only his first film, a short one, didn't receive a nomination. The long ones were all nominated! Amazing!!
If we are to draw parallels, he is up there with Abel (mathematician who, even though died at 22, "pushed" mathematics ahead enormously), Pete Maravitz (I think he still holds some records for best scorer in the NCAA) and, dare I say it, Alexander the Great. All "undefeated" in their fields and, tragically, short lived!
