Every movie he was in he was very thin-skinned and perhaps he was this way in real life. Something is VERY wrong if you die before your 60's! And 60-something's usually die from bad genetics or from lengthy tobacco and alcohol abuse.

If you read any of his bio,it's mentioned that he was the polar opposite of the type of character he played on film.

Bone marrow cancer, to be exact.
A real shame. Such an underrated actor who simply became every character he played on film.
Plus, I can't imagine Meryl Streep being with any no-talent schlub, either.

Everything I've read says he died of lung cancer, which is generally attributed to him being a heavy smoker.

My sister was diagnosed with with brain cancer at age sixteen. She died at age eighteen. What do you suppose was in her angelic personality that caused her to fall ill and die? She was the best of all of us.
