He appeared in 5 feature movies and all of them are classics. I wonder if he got lucky or he just knew how to pick a project.
To put it in perspective, Robert De Niro, one of the greatest actors of all time has 8 and Al Pacino is tied with 5.
    Matt Damon has 4
    Tom Hanks has 4
    Meryl Streep has 2
    Jack Lemmon has 2
    Tom Cruise has 1

Not to mention the short he was in called the American Way has been given a 9.4 out of 10 rating. Although only 111 votes, thats still pretty impressive as 88 of them were 10 out of 10's and only 11 were rated under 7.. and they were all 1's.
Great actor.. sad story.. could have been one of the best of all time.

Both James Stewart and Harrison Ford have 8 movies in the top 250.
But, Alfred Hitchcock beat them all with 9 movies in total.
Enjoying that are you my darlin'? Bit cold and pointless isn't it my lovely?

I guess pound for pound he would have been (or is) the greatest American actor ever.
But all joking aside John Cazale was truly a gifted actor. Great on screen, and from what I heard just as great on stage. It's a real shame he had to leave this world so soon.

              What are Tarantino's six.
I only count five. Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill and Kill Bill volume 2.
              Five.

                Jackie Brown and Death Proof
and one scene from Four Rooms (the funniest one actually)
                so 8 1/4 movies, I guess?:)

The discussion was about number in the Top 250, and Jackie Brown and Death Proof aren't. Although it is arguable that Jackie Brown should be.

He sure had a eye for good scripts!!! I just commented on DeNiros board about him!! 5 movies on the top 250, and those are the only 5 movies he acted in!
                      Talk about luck!!!

                            H. Ford was also in Apocalypse Now. So he has 8.

This thread seems to have gone off-topic a bit. The overriding feeling being that Cazale is perhaps the only American actor to have a flawless filmography. He was an important player in all of them. A genuinely talented actor.

Every feature length film he was in won or was nominated for best picture. Only actor who can claim that.

Cazale was in three of these movies cause he was friend of Coppola (and also a decent actor). The Deer Hunter was also directed by an Italian (Cimino).

With the flucuation of the IMDb top 250, a lot of these will be inaccurate by the time you read them; The Conversation is no longer in the top 250. But one thing won't change: All five of John Cazale's films were best picture nominees, and three of them won.
