I'm really upset about allowing the sale of 1/3 of public lands that served as natural forests and protected areas to be auctioned off so it can be bought by BlackRock or whomever so that they can strip the woodlands and build "affordable housing". There is no reason to undertake such a ridiculous idea. There is so much housing that is dilapidated, run down, razed, and areas that already have housing constructed that could be repurposed and refurbished in order to supply these affordable housing structures to people in an area that is already going to be close to things like public transportation and markets. There are abandoned cities that could be rejuvenated, rebuilding the economy of those existing cities. The land that is arbitrarily being sold off is in the middle of nowhere and has served the American people by being available to all.
According to The Herald News, the Big Beautiful Bill looks like it includes a proposal to require the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to sell nearly 3.3 million acres of land. The bill requests that the acreage be used for housing, which could be appealing to those who are hoping to alleviate the pains being felt as a result of the housing crisis.
However, it does appear that 11 western states will be forced to part with at least some of their land, and the list includes Utah, Washington, California, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, and Alaska among others.
There has been pushback on this idea from both sides of the aisle, proving how important retaining public land seems to be to both republican and democratic lawmakers, according to CNBC.
It's still unclear about how protected national parks, monuments, and wilderness areas might be exempt from having to be sold off.

Republicans know full well it's not going to be affordable housing. Their donors want fresh land to build private resorts with a view that the peasants aren't allowed to access. And also to strip everything for whatever natural resources they can find.

You are probably correct and they're using the phrase "affordable housing" to get it passed, and that is equally appalling. The destruction of land so that resort homes for billionaires can be built there is sacrilegious.
