He was a good singer, musician and songwriter but Nirvana were just part of a bigger punk/alt scene in Seattle at that time (late 80s-early 90s) and they were just one of many fine bands in that scene that included Green River, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Skin Yard, TAD, Coffin Break, Pearl Jam, Melvins, Screaming Trees, etc. If you love Nirvana, you should check out some of those other artists. Green River was arguably the first Seattle "grunge" band.

i know Green River, they're okay. TAD and Mudhoney are great and i love PJ and Melvins.
what about female grunge bands tho, Bikini Kill, L7, Hole, 7 Year Bitch, Babes in Toyland, Sleater-Kinney, Lunachicks? i think they're just as great.
