This is the first time he has directed a film alone. Ethan is off doing something in theater. This is according to their conjoined Wikipedia page. It's kind of weird they don't get separate entries. Visually it looks great with its shot composition and it's Macbeth so you know what you're getting there. I don't remember the movies he made with his brother being so self-consciously artistic. Could Ethan have been holding that back? But that's from watching the trailer, the rest of the movie could look like garbage.

Yeah, they are so joined at the hip it does seem unusual for them to be doing separate projects.
It would be like Laurel without Hardy or Abbot without Costello.
