- Mrs. Brown (such a wide range of emotions)

- Shakespeare in Love (only eight minutes, but worthy of the Oscar)

I would add "As Time Goes By", but the OP requested movies only.
AndI'm looking forward to seeing her in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

So pleased to see so many people name Notes as their favourite Dench performance.
I would also like to throw in Ladies in Lavender, she was so fragile and vulnerable in that role, yearning for something she could never have. She broke my heart.
So put some spice in my sauce, honey in my tea, an ace up my sleeve and a slinkyplanb
