Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Blake Edwards

    csu16387 — 22 years ago(January 26, 2004 05:00 PM)

First to post here, I'm a little surprised. My favorite Blake Edwards films are (in order):
    Days of Wine and Roses
    Breakfast at Tiffany's
    The Pink Panther
    Operation Petticoat
"Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today."

It was really funny, but it wasn't him crashing threw a wall.. a stuntman, which they pulled off amazingly. that is what I read in the news.lol, it was so funny though! Way to go BLAKE!

A Shot in the Dark is definitely a classic.
Also gotta mention 10, S.O.B., Victor/Victoria, Micki + Maude, WIld Rovers, Great Race and Skin Deep.
And nothing wrong with The Party! It's an innovative film.

S.O.B. LAUGHING 1 MINUTE AND CRYING THE NEXT. PLUS THE IDEA OF MAKING FUN OF HOLLYWOOD AND ITS PRACTICES. AND THE HUGE CAST OF ACTUAL STARS, SOME MOVIES ARE KNOWN FOR LOTS OF STARSYEARS LATER, BUT WERE UNKNOWNS WHEN MOVIE WAS MADE. WITH SOB, THEY ALREADY HAD LONG CAREERS. AND THE BEST PORTRAYEL OF A DEAD BODY EVER.

Don;t throw stones, I know it may seem strange, but the Panther films are of my least favorites. There are moments I love. Some, in my opinion, classic. I never got into them. Never could relate. To me, Edwards brought the panache of the hip swinging 60's into the 70's and 80's via Malibu and Bel Aire with a brillent group of actors and a man who captured the style and tone in music - Mancini.

Well, my favorite Blake Edwards films are:

                                      1. Days of Wine and Roses
                                      2. The Pink Panther Strikes Again
                                      3. The Party
                                      4. A Shot in the Dark
                                      5. Return of the Pink Panther
                                      6. Victor/Victoria
                                      7. The Great Race
                                      8. 10
                                      9. Revenge of the Pink Panther
                                        10)The Pink Panther
As you can see, I love the Pink Panther movies. Also, I must say, though, that I have not seen a whole lot of other Edwards other than the ones I mentioned. Although, I do want to see THE TAMARINT SEED (spell), for the Omar Sharif reference in STRIKES AGAIN, S.O.B. and DARLING LILI. But the ones above are pretty great

I loved The Tamarind Seed and The Party, SOB is very good too and Darling Lili would have been superb if they had just made it shorter

I always wanted to see the Tamarind seedpartially because I'm a HUGE fan of his wife, Julie Andrews. I would hav5b4e to agree..Darling Lili was a GREAT movie..if it was shorter, there were scenes that weren't needed.I thought 10 and Victor/Victoria were HILARIOUS! And i love to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's.
