Dating doesn't always have to be sexual, and if you go out once with someone that's a date. I don't know about their relationship, but I recall Barry Williams went out on one date with his television mom Florence Henderson when they were both on "The Brady Bunch" and it was purely innocent he had a crush on her. Maybe Nicole had a crush on Scott, and he went out with her.
How is he sex crazed?, He has good taste in women, he's also dated Pamela Anderson, Erika Eleniak, Natalie Raitano, Nicollette Sheridan, Brooke Shields and Heather Locklear.
The only thing that is weird is that Erika Eleniak was replaced by Pamela Anderson on "Baywatch" and they worked together for two episodes on that series, Pamela Anderson worked with Nicole Eggert on "Baywatch", and Natalie Raitano is friends with Pamela Anderson and worked on her series "VIP", that's a lot of sharing of an ex-boyfriend between friends. I also seem to recall Erika Eleniak guest starring on "Charles in Charge", and I think he was dating Erika during that time and dated Nicole after Erika, but then again Pamela and Heather have both been with a lot of the same men as well. Small dating pool in LA I guess.

What about when one is still 17 and the other is 18? One is "underage" while the other is "legal age" but they're only a year apart. And who's to say that a 16 or 17 year old girl isn't mentally mature enough to make decisions about her own sexuality? I've known a few 30 / 40 year old women who still aren't mature enough to make intelligent decisions.
Most of these laws were passed years ago. Kids today aren't as naive as they were back in the 50s -

The age of consent in California is 18, with a misdemeanor if the minor has 3 or fewer years of difference with the major, and potentially a felony if the major is more than 3 years older. Penalties increase if the adult is 21 or older and the child is 15 or younger. It is automatically a felony if the minor is under 14. It is worth emphasizing that unlike some other states, the close-in-age rule in California (3 years) do not provide an exception nor provide any defense; it merely lowers the crime to a misdemeanor. Under this law, two minors of the same age could both be prosecuted.
My favorite part of that law is the last sentenceit suggests that if two 14-year-olds have sex, they'd be charged with misdemeanor statutory rape of each other!
Yes, these laws are ridiculous, but then again, look at who we elect!
