La Cage Aux Folles, the Broadway musical. I think I remember him stating he was working on it on the extras from TST DVD. If so I think it's time to dust it off and get it on the big screen.

      Um where do I start
Harvey wrote the libretto (book) for La Cage aux Folle Broadway show - and won a tony - you do realise it is not an original American production but translated from the original French movie
La Cage has been made into a movie - the original french LaCage aux Folles and the sequel La Cage aux Folles II
The American version "The Birdcage" with Nathan Lane, Robbin Williams and hillarious Hank Azaria with Gene Hackman and Colista Flockart - I thinit has been done and no need for any other movie version

Mmmm, but the American movie version ("The Birdcage") really wasn't very good. I think there's plenty of room for a movie version of the American musical, if it's done well. Though I don't imagine anything could better the original French movie, I'd like to see the musical filmed.
You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

I didn't at the time of my posting. Since then I got a copy of the original. Not being a fan of subtitles and not being able to speak/ understand much French I did not find it entertaining at all. I also found old footage of George Hern singing from the musical. I think a film adaptation of the broadway musical would be great.
