I loved her in this movie. She played a very strong female lead and I loved her look as well. Did anyone else?

Very much so ,this is my favourit performence by this wonderful actress. She was also marvelous in "Brassed Off" ,"The Tenant of Wildfield Hall" ,"Sirens" and "The Student Prince". Having seen her in theatre ,I can confirm that she is electrifying in that Medium also.
While of course, Miss F238itzgerald is radiantly beautiful, more importantly ,she is one of the greatest British actresses of our generation . -

In Wilkie Collins
s original novel, Marian Fairlie is supposed to be homely (but magnificently built and strong-willed). In both filmed versions that I have seen, she has been played by good-looking women, Alexis Smith and Tara Fitzgerald. I suppose it has to be that way or nobody would produce the film. You that thing I thow peanuts at.

That is certainly true . However the version with Tara Fitzgerald , while by no means a literal adaptation of the great Novel , is very true to it's spirit. This approach which , given that he pushed the envelope as far as he could in his work ,Wilkie Collins would, I feel , have approved of . The production also has a wonderful cast and great atmosphere .
