I don't know why he died but just some weeks ago I saw him, in a movie or at a picture, and I thought to myself: Man, he needs to lose weight or he gonna die soon. It's very sad! I liked him in several roles.

The singer Robert Palmer died of a heart attack in his early fifties and he wasn't fat. Orson Welles made it to 70 and Marlon Brando was over 80. I think it's much more complicated than people think, but they like pat explanations that fit their prejudices.

mmcvey1 Good points, I think he may have had blockages in some of his arteries, that's my guess, if caught in time stents could have been used to open the arteries. I have a friend that had over 80% blockage in two main arteries, he went home one day after the procedure and he's doing great now, the guy is 75.

Obesity is a "good" reason to die of heart attack, but recreations drugs taken on daily basis are even worse. Stress is also bad.
Then of course there's a genetic factor, if in your family a lot of people who looked fit had heart problems while they were young there's a good change to inherit these problems.

I'm sure his lack of weight control is among the top reasons he's now in the other realm.
