James Gandolfini has never once used method acting as an excuse for anything. He's always been honest. He's not a homophobe at all. It was probably a bad day even if a straight guy went up to him he'd react the same way if it's bad day. Plus on the set of the sopranos James did not get hardly any sleep 2 hours tops he got and he was very tired when a person is exhausted like that they get pissy and ratty and annoyed by the slightest things.

Well, if he's a method actor and stays in character while on set then it would make perfect sense for the Tony Soprano character to be freaked out by the Queer Eye guys.
I know some people who are into method acting can have a hard time getting out of character so that could be a possible explanation. For example, while filming Gangs of New York Daniel Day Lewis (who played a character that hated the Irish) refused to sit at the same table with any of the actors who were actually Irish.- "Someone is hitting my soul in the crotch with a frozen sledgehammer." I always thought it was a load of crap that method actors claim that they were so into character that they do something they wouldn't normally do. They act like that mantle of "method actor" excuses bad or abnormal behavior. Almost like a license to act like an s$$hole.
