Did Hitchcock ever want to work with Garbo? I've read quite a few Garbo bios which never mention such a thing, but not having read any Hitchcock bios I don't know if he ever thought about it. I think that would have been quite a pairing.

I'm not sure, but it's unlikely. Hitchcock's first movie in Hollywood wasn't until 1940 (Rebecca). Greta Garbo retired from film in 1941. They really didn't get a chance. I don't think that Garbo would have been Hitchcock's style either.

Thank you Robert.
It was viewing My Cousin Rachel one day (Daphne Du Maurier, but not directed by Hitchcock) that made me think of this. I thought how the actress looked so much like Garbo - I didn't realize it was Olivia de Havilland! They obviously tried to make her look like Garbo and I think Garbo would have been great in that role.
One can only wonder how Hitch would have photographed Garbo.
