A poster on the "Garbo Talks" board said that Greta did see the movie because she admired Anne Bancroft. Can anyone confirm this?
It's a rather flattering portrayal of her, but I'm sure Greta wouldn't have appreciated the attention. Hopefully that wasn't her actual apartment building in the film.
As for the movie itself, I really enjoyed it. Every scene with Bancroft is amazing, and it's worth seeing just for her soliloquy at the end. As a huge Greta Garbo fan, that amazing ending (I won't spoil it for anyone) made me so, so happy. If I'd been born in another era, it would have been my dying wish to meet Garbo, too. -

DID GARBO SEE THE FILM ?
One of Garbo's closest friends, the art dealer Sam Green, said
I know she didn't see the movie, because I was the one who sent her a telegram saying, There's a film called Garbo Talks' in New York, and they'll be making a fuss. Don't come back until the run is over in two weeks.' And she didn't.
But a few years later, Garbo told composer David Diamond she saw the movie on TV and liked it:
She loved Harvey Fierstein in it but she wouldn't go to see him in Torch Song Trilogy',
Diamond recalled.
