Driving through NC and seeing the signs for her museum in Smithfield. I passed it several times (used to have family there) and finally stopped in one day. I was hooked.

1994, in my freshman year and I was looking at a photo book of movie stars. I was looking a page about movies in 1965, there was a photo of the cast of that movie with Richard Burton. I forgot the name of the movie.

Hi, luckystarhamburg. That film would be "The Night of the Iguana", which I highly recommend.

I've heard that of all her movies, her performance in NOTI most closely mirrored her IRL.

I would agree and I think she would have, too! She was very laid back and very funny.

People used to stop my mother when I was little and tell her she resembled Ava, so I looked her up in the dictionary.

Your mother must have been a real beauty.

I first saw and heard of Ava with ON THE BEACH. I was a big Anthony Perkins fan [still am] and was excited when this came on tv. This was also my first experience watching Fred Astaire. Imagine, my first time seeing Astaire was not in a musical.
At the time I was only interested in Perkins. Now I'm a fan of the entire four which includes Gregory Peck.
