She wouldn't be the first person in the public eye to "lose" a few years in order to help her career. The singer Anastacia recently confessed that she is in fact five years older than she had been leading people to believe.
In the case of Geri Halliwell however, I think it's pretty safe to assume that she was born in 1972. She was always the most popular spice girl with the media and the British tabloids gave her a rough ride back in the 90s. They dug up as much dirt on her as they could and something like this would've surely come out by now if it was true. -

Well, she's 34 today, but I've heard that British people don't age that well, so they tend to look a lot older than what really they are, no offense to any Brits on these boards. Also, I think she had a rough life before the days of the Spice Girls, so that can really age you. All in all though, she does look older to me, like 37-ish, maybe.

She is genuinely 34. Tabloid newspaper The Sun printed a copy of her birth certificate from Watford County Library, and she was indeed born in 1972.
Agree she looks a lot older though, especially in those candid paparazzi shots when she has no make-up on. -

I remember in 1998 several of radio and TV stations reported that she was actually 35 and not 26 as originally thought. I can't find anything online about now2000, was this a false story because I know I heard from several sources.
