I was watching a new interview/audiography on the girls and they talked about everything and Geri said one reason was something about a breast cancer interview, somthing like she wanted to do it and the other girls didnt or the other way around. The second was about a huge argument between her and Mel B. The other thing they mentioned was she was the oldest and had a little more experiance so she kind of bossed then around a little bit. And then that with her belemia issues.
Hope this helped,

about the cancer interview she said the other girls said she shoub68ldnt do it alone and she felt like "i can't seem to even do that alone" She just felt suffocated I think like she felt like she didn't have a life anymore.

She was planning on leaving in September of that year anyway. She got invited to do a speak out about breast cancer, and it was kind of a now or never thing. The Girls schedule wouldn't allow Geri to, so that's when it basically clicked in her head that their are more important issues right now for her. There was no dispute between any of them that provoked her to leave. She was my favorite (and still is of course) too. I followed her through all her solo albums. She trully is an intelligent wonderful person.

I don't think her departure had nothing to do with the group, it was probably the image she portrayed and all the negativity she recieved.

In her book she stated that it was her time to leave and again in the documentory she said that members of the group did have an inpact on her leaving

There was always the story that her and Mel B had a major falling out sometime that spring. I've read all of the Spice Girls' books and all 238have said at the beginning of the World Tour, they were closer than ever. This was attributed to the fact that they were no longer under Simon Fueller's management. But of course, when you have two alpha females like Geri and Mel B, things can go sour really fast. I think she handled it poorly at the time and she at least owed it to the others to tell them.
Mel B made a note in her book that Geri had become distant and withdrawn leading up to her departure, but no one had time to address it since they were working twice as hard as before. The cancelled 5b4breast cancer interview was apparently the last straw. Geri said in her book that she knew in her heart that she was gonna leave. She was originally gonna call it quits at the conclusion of the world tour, but something pushed Geri over the edge.
I also remember when Geri made an appearance at the AMA awards that year, she was recieved by mixed boos and jeers from the crowd. She looked like an ass because of her sudden departure and the horrible mess she left for the other girls to clean up.
Don't get me wrong, I love Geri to death, but what she did was really crappy.
