He died almost 26 years ago. Pretty much everyone knows that he was gay and died of complications to AIDS. What's the discussion??
I have always enjoyed his films with Doris Day or when he was on Dynasty. We could talk about that, or we could talk about how "after his death his long-time lover Marc Christian successfully sued his estate, again calling attention to the homosexuality Rock had hidden from most throughout his career."
Its of no consequence, his being gay doesn't detract from his body of work. Sounds like it may for you though?? -

Okay .. and who is this best friend? Name? I didn't think so. There are a lot credibility issues on this topic especially with "best friends." What do you mean "any of the women he was attracted to were with him later"? Do you mean after the age of 25? For PR reasons he was seen with many women .. its not hard to pull this off in Hollywood.

I just watched Rock Hudson's bio on the "BIO" channel and his friend was named Mark Miller. I quote him as I am watching this right now:
"I really think Rock was bisexual, because he was attracted to other women, you know several others, now whether that came to fruition I don't know, because you're not there so you don't know for sure."-Mark Miller
I'll be with you in a minute, Mr. Peabody! -

Hudson was gay, but there are actual confirmed relationships with women. Hudson had an affair with Marilyn Maxwell which was not publicity. Mamie Van Doren claims an affair with him and he was engaged to Vera-Ellen. -

Lol! Ok so he was gay. BIG DEAL! Talk about it if you want, it is a free country! and yay for free speeck ;o) !!
However it is interesting to look into the fact that he was acting twice in his films.
One - acting as a straight man and two - acting as his character. Hmm and he's still yummy!

the reason to discuss it is so that it is not erased from history. if one looks through most culture (art, music, movies, books, etc.) throughout history many of the greats were queer in some form and its been erased from the history book because if the mainstream realizes what the queers have given to the human experience its that much harder for them to fight against granting them complete equality.

^^Exactly. What's wrong with discussing it? It's one thing to want to respect an actor's private life, it's another to ignore who someone really is. I don't think Rock liked having to hide his being gay and who he was at all. It was just something he had to do in order to have a career. We aren't disrespecting his legacy or anything by questioning his sexuality. I think he deserves to be remembered for who he was and not the perfect picture hollywood painted for him.

Obviously the orininal poster to this thread is a bit stupid. Firstly we can talk about whatever we please, as bjd, 'free speech rocks'.
Secondly the original poster should not automatically assume that any discussions surrounding his homosexuality are going to be prejudiced in nature. It actually says more about her than it does about us!
