Who cares? Rock Hudson's homosexuality is old news. The man has been dead over 25 years.
Good thinking. So let's close up all of the message boards on this site for any person who died 25 years or more ago.
It should be against the law to use "LOL" unless you really did LOL! -

But Rock Hudson's wishes of keeping his homosexuality private were back in the 1950s and 60s - during the height of his career. That was a very different time and his career would have been in jeopardy if his private life was well known.
But we're not discussing this in the 50s. It's 2013 - we're living in a very different period of time and if Rock Hudson was still alive, we don't know if he still would have kept his sexuality private. He might very well want us to accept him for who he is. Just like the many out-and-proud actors of recent times, he probably wouldn't see his sexuality as something to hide anymore.
I think we are giving him respect (certainly in a way he never would have dreamed) by knowing that he's gay but still celebrating his talent and acting achievements.

I like to think Rock was bisexual.
Would that make it more palatable and acceptable for you, as being 'homosexual', is perceived as nothing but a deviant and degenerate lifestyle? Guess what? I like to think of your partner as being 'bisexual'. Whoops! Did they neglect to tell you and all this time, you thought they were 'normal' straight?

Since when does anyone [other than a fundamentalist bigot] make an issue whether Rock Hudson was gay? It's a part of his story because he was the first celebrity to die of AIDS.
His homosexuality is also important because he lived in a time when it was not discussed. It's interesting to see how someone like Hudson handled living in those times. His sexuality does not become the centre of the story, but it plays an important part.
Rock Hudson was a complex and very fascinating man and his sexuality is a fascinating part of that story.
