I had to watch 'Love Come Back' for a school assignment. It was my first Rock Hudson movie; although, I had heard of him before. I never imagined him to be so dreamy! I thought he would be like James Stewart or Cary Grant (who I'm not attracted to, but to each their own).
I was looking at his wikipedia page (I know, not the most reliable source), but it made it seem like his sexual orientation was just hearsay. Is there definitive proof that the man was gay?

In the IMDB bio on him it states that his long time lover, a man named Marc Christian, successfully sued Rock's estate because Rock never disclosed his HIV status to him. Marc won a large sum that was reduced to still a few millions.

Only to those he trusted. It's a commonly accepted myth that "everyone in Hollywood knew." Truth is that there were people who actually didn't know and this is by their own admission.
Angie Dickinson said that she was friends with Hudson for nearly 20 years before she found out. Doris Day claims she never knew. Robert Stack said he never knew for certain until it was announced that Hudson had AIDS.
Another myth is that Hudson publicly admitted his homosexuality when revealing he had AIDS. Hudson never actually appeared in person to make the announcement. His doctor made the announcement and any of his statements were read by other people [like Burt Lancaster or Elizabeth Taylor]. In those statements, Hudson never said a word about homosexuality.
So technically, no, he never did come out.
