It's not the same Jim Hutton.
I looked up Freddie Mercury (lead singer of the rock band Queen) and found references to an article by a man named Jim Hutton published in London's
The Guardian
on 22 October 1994. In it he described how he first met Freddie Mercury at the end of 1983.
So, if for no other reason, he couldn't be the same Jim Hutton as the American actor. That Hutton was already dead by then, having died of liver cancer in 1979. -

I can understand what she means. When you watch a character on tv, you're in a way allowing him into your home. It would no doubt come as a shock to most normal people after years of Jim Hutton portraying or presenting himself to the public as a young verile woman-chasing hetero male, but in real life being an actual pole smoker, and would be quite unsettling to say the least.
I am just guessing that is what she meant.
