Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jim Hutton

So what is Jim Hutton's eye color, anyway? In some episodes of Ellery Queen, his eyes look blue. In others, his eyes look grey.

Okay, I feel compelled to respond to this:)
I got the last disc yesterday and the first thing I watched was the interview with one of the co-producers of the series. In it, there are a couple of stills of Jim Hutton and, in those pictures, his eyes are most definitely blue. In fact, they are bright, stunning, beautiful blue. I wonder if, sometimes, the quality and age of the film itself makes his eyes look a little grayer. And I also still think that maybe eyes just change color (even if just a little bit) at times.
      Sweet merciful crap!

So he has beautiful blue eyes, hey? 🙂 They did look blue in a couple of the episodes. 🙂
WOW!!!!!! I haven't watched that interview yet. I really should, in order to see the stills of Jim Hottie. 🙂 Thanks for the heads up!
I would like to hear your thoughts on the last four episodes. If you have time, please post your thoughts on this thread or that other one that we have going. I won't be posting as much in the next day or so, but I'll definitely see your reply ASAP. 🙂

I didn't have a lot of time last night so I only got to watch a little bit of "Tin Pan Alley" before I fell asleep. I do distincly remember seeing Ellery looking in on the recording sessions and he seemed to like listening to themI thought that was cute. 🙂
Will give you my full reviews in the next day or so when I've finished
Yeah, you should check the interview outthat's why I love season DVD collections; they usually have some pretty interesting special features like that. The interview is a little dry, but the stuff he says is quite interesting. It's not too long (about 15 minutes) but he talks a lot about the connection with the books and knowing the authors.

I don't have much time for posting this weekend, but I'll certainly read your comments this week, if you post them. 🙂

Finished the last disc and got the full set on Fridaynow I'm starting over. 🙂
I didn't like "Tin Pan Alley," thought it was kind of meh. "Caesar's Last Sleep" was very good, I thought. I liked the way Inspector Queen took charge in that episode but Ellery was there and very supportive. "Hard-Hearted Huckster" was pretty good, but I think it would have made more sense to give Simon Brimmer the storyline about a TV show rather than Frank Flanniganyou know Simon would have been all about getting into TV. And "Disappearing Dagger" was good and the last line was definitely kinda bittersweet.
              I. LOVE. THAT. GREEN. SWEATER. Seriously, besides the fact that he looks great in it, I have one almost that color and it makes me want cold weather right now so I can wear it, haha! I'm going to have to go through again and decide which episodes are my favoritesit's hard to remember all the different shows and details of each one.

                "I. LOVE. THAT. GREEN. SWEATER."
I know! He looks so sexy in it!!!!! 🙂 It's even better than his red sweater. I also love the turtleneck which he wore in the pilot episode. 🙂
I agree with you about Tin Pan alley. In some ways, though, it did have kind of a romantic feel to it, but it was very slow.
Caesar's Last Sleep - Ellery looked incredibly attractive in that one, especially near the beginning when we see him at home in his sexy green sweater. 🙂 He looked soooo georgeous in those early scenes. Makes up for the fact that we don't see much of him for the next little while after that. The ending to this episode is quite brilliant.
Hard-hearted Huckster - quite predictable, but boy did Ellery look good in this one. I especially like how he bailed out Flannigan once they were on TV together. Flannigan panicked, and Ellery just turned his georgeous face towards Flannigan to see what was going on. Flannigan panicked again, and once again, Ellery turned his georgeous face towards Flannigan. Finally, Ellery took charge, his georgeous face still fixed on the audience. Can't beat that. 🙂
I think that Huckster is the episode in which Ellery does the best job of presenting the conclusion. He was on TV, he was bailing out Flanniganhe really gave it his best and he sure looked good doing it. 🙂
Disappearing Dagger was not bad. I really do like the last line - very appropriate and very sad.
I really should write up some comments about all the episodes. I'll work on that, little by little. 🙂 Most of my comments will revolve around how good Ellery looked in the episode, of course. 🙂
