Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Peter Hyams

    LuboLarsson — 19 years ago(February 13, 2007 08:51 AM)

Capricorn One, 2010, Narrow Margin, Sudden Death, End of Days and Outland to name just a few. I don't think he has ever made an absolute masterpiece but if his name is above a film then you are usually going to be entertained by it. Also has worked with some great actors over the years. Respect is due!

I concur. Hyams has indeed made several hugely enjoyable movies. I'm especially fond of "Busting," "Capricorn One," "Outland," "Narrow Margin," and "Sudden Death."
Q: What's the biggest room in the world? A: The room for improvement.

          I agree, Hyams is underrated.

The Musketeer, Running Scared, The Presidio, Timecop, The Relic and Sudden Death are all among my favourite of his movies. What I can't believe is that he directed Stay Tuned. I remember seeing that in the theaters and thinking by the end that that was one of the dumbeda0st movies I'd ever seen. Oh well, at least he's had more greats than flops.

Respect is totally due. I've seen probably a third of this guy's films, and he has made some intriguing, varied films. In addition to the ones you've mentioned, "The Relic" is surprisingly good a B-movie that demands your attention. Too bad he's not better known.

Can't argue that. A very consistent filmmaker that's made quite a few entertaining features. Even some of his lesser ones have merit. Of what I've seen, "Busting", "Outland" & "Timecop" would be my favourites.
Watching "Running Scared" tonight for the first time.

Capricorn One is an iconic movie. It should be seen be all generations.
