    I didn't even know this, I am shocked to read that he was ignored!
    Just the fact that he was one of Blade Runner's most memorable characters
    should justify him being included in that tribute (and Brion James obviously
    had many more films to his credit). All I gotta say is:
    SCREW THE GODDAMN ACADEMY!

        If it wasn't for Brion, some of these so-called Hollywood heavyweights would be nothing. Look at the list of folks this guy worked with: Stallone [Tango & Cash], Ah-nuld [Red Heat], Bruce Willis [Striking Distance & Fifth Element], Harrison Ford [Blade Runner], Kevin Costner [Silverado - uncredited] etc. Hell, he even worked w/ a future Desperate Housewife [Terri Hatcher - Tango & Cash]. Without a good antagonist, the protagonist is nothing but one-dimensional. He chewed up every scene he was ever in because he was so good at whatever role he was playing, in my opinion. I'm always on the lookout for a great Brion James performance.

          So Brion was ignored eh typical ignorant bastards in the industry. This reminds me of the time when Peter Cushing died, at the awards they clapped and cheered when pictures of actors that had passed away like Raul Julia (sp?). But when Peter's picture appeared on the big screen above the stage, silence from the whoe crowd. And actors that were before Peter became famous were getting applauded and he was more famous than they ever were. But then again Peter Cushing wasn't America's classic horror icon, Vincent Price was. Still, it was no excuse for ignoring him. To hell with the idiots that ignored Mr James and Mr Cushing. We all know who the better actors are, or were, and that is Brion James and Peter Cushing, not a nobody like Raul Julia to whom the industry seemed to favour more.

            @Alamo_Joe_Rogan
            wtf?!? raul julia was a brilliant actor who died way too soon. even when he starred in the beep films (street fighter, anyone?), he did so with dignity. i got nothing against cushing, but you bashing a great actor like julia for no reason whatsoever kinda annoys me

              Raul Julia was a great actor! from serious movies "Kiss of the Spider Woman", to action "The Rookie", comedies "The Addams Family" or bio-pics "Onassis". He was also great in supporting roles in movies such as "Presumed Innocent", "The Morning After" or "Tequilla Sunrise".

                  Calm, down, people. Brion died in August 1999. He would have been honored at the ceremony in 2000.

                    Wow.. I had no idea of his passing away.. Kind of a shock to me.
                    He was a very good character-actor, and should have been honored.
                    RIP Brion..
