Did anybody see Charlie Rose the other night? Neil along with Jodie and Joel Silver (producer) were on, promoting "The Brave One." Let me preface this first by saying that I am a HUGE Neil Jordan fan and have nothing but respect for the man. However, I have to say, he really did not come off well on this program. He looked extremely uncomfortable being there, was often mumbling to the point where Charlie Rose had to ask him to clarify himself, was caught on camera biting his fingernails in an uncomfortable close-up and overall, did not have much to contribute compared to Foster and Silver and often hung his head down low, etc.
I felt embarrassed for the guy - I wonder if he is uncomfortable giving interviews? I wouldn't be surprised as most artists are not accustomed to the spotlight and in fact, are shy. -

He doesn't seem to be in any way comfortable with interviews. He was on an Irish chat show a few nights ago and he was the same way as you described him on Charlie Rose. The interviewer was having a tough time with him too.
He seems like one of those people who will only have interviews when it's completely neccesary. -

leave him alone
Nobody is picking on him. He doesn't "do" talks, one on ones, or interviews well, at all!
Neil does NOT do well with interviews. Every interview I have seen him in, he seems very uncomfortable. He has even done a few documentary interviews at the end of some of his films, and also seems uncomfortable, as well.
If you get a chance to see the extended version of "Michael Collins", there is a very good documentary at the end about Michael Collins and the making of the movie by Jordan. Neil is interviewed and throughout the piece, he seems a bit out of sorts. He comes across very intelligently, and what he has to say about various events while filming "Michael Collins" was very interesting. Still, he does appear to be a bit uncomfortable, at times.
What, just for once in your life can't you be serious?
