I wondered that too but it seems she is really busy. I have read that a lot of tours, signings and stuff she has been unable to do because of other engagements, I think she had to leave halfway through because of that. I never realised that she doesn't like to be filmed when doing her Marge voice. I wonder why?

I have nothing else to add other than I was SO embarassed about the Simpsons' cast appearing on that Inside the Actors Studio. As one other poster put it, performing animals exactly. Even Harry Shearer the one who seems to have the most cajones of the bunch went along with the BS. Sigh could have been a great show.
I like to think that JK was mortified at the whole thing and stormed out, but I'm sure the truth wasn't nearly that dramatic. -

I saw it for the first time recently. Must have been a repeat because I had not seen the episode before. I noticed that she suddenly disappeared from the stage without an explanation Just moments after we hear her do Marge. Made me wonder.
I am not a big fan of actor\comedians doing their2000 acts on the show. I am more interested in what they have to say, rather watch them do their routine. I couldn't sit through Robin Williams because it took him 5-10 minutes to answer a question; every question was a lead in for his improvisation act. He's a great tallent, but sometimes he doesn't know when to turn it off. I kept yelling at the TV, "Just answer the damn question!!" but I digress. -

Just posted same question on the "Inside the actors studio". Seems very mysterious .Although the show is kind of strange I found it interesting to see exactly how the cast of a popular and legendary show as "The Simpsons" presenting their performance. But still found Julie Kavner's disappearence mysterious.

I also saw this and was very confused. Although, I found this at tvguide.com:
Question:
I saw the actors who voice The Simpsons on Inside the Actors Studio. Why was Julie Kavner (the voice of Marge and others) not shown doing Mrs. Simpson's voice? Also, where did she disappear to during the second half of the show? Pat
Matt:
Quite a few people noticed this, and I agree it was jarring and should have been explained on air. (I'm also surprised Bravo didn't make this one of the two-hour editions of Actors Studio.)
First off, it's relatively well known that Kavner (unlike her co-stars) refuses ever to be shown doing the voice of Marge, something about preserving the illusion. This would have been the perfect opportunity, but clearly this was a condition of her appearing. And according to a colleague of mine who was at the taping (which went on for hours), Kavner had alerted the producers that she needed to be done by 10 pm (the session started at 7:30), but moderator James Lipton kept things going well past 11 pm, before the students even got a chance to address the actors. The least Lipton or someone could have done was explain to the TV audience why she no longer was on the stage. Still, it was a great opportunity to see these guys in action.

When the Inside the Actors Studio first aired they showed commercials for what was coming up on the episode. It flashed by really quickly, but I remember seeing Julie holding up a cardboard cutout of Marge's face up to her own face. This must have been what she used so the audience couldn't see her doing the voice.
The Simpson's cast has also done live script readings a few times over the years and Julie never participates, someone else does Marge's voice. -

I thought that was obvious. Guess not.
It makes perfect sense to me. -

but the producers have seen her do the voice, right? I just watched the show and what I got from it was that Kavner may have had to go somewhere that day

I don't blame her for having a fear of people , i know when i sing i have to sometimes turn my back to the people watching me, or i have to close my eyes for most of the time i'm singing, i sing at my church (chior) i stand in the back with my eyes close, so ya i don;t blame her for putting on a big hat and glasses when shes doing her thing. i too don;t like being around people, when i'm on any bus i put my things on the seat beside me or i stand up .
When im, at a punk show i dont mosh, i freak out ALOT when i'm around ALOT of people.

a lot of voice artist respect the voiceds they do and donlt want to dystroy the illusion. i must admit when i saw nancy cartwrightdoing the voice of bart when i was 11 it took me years to stop identifying bart as a "cartoon" insted of a real character, which is what the simpsons are meant to represent.
