The actor who most needs to GET OVER himself:

"I don't fully condone snobbery, but the fact is he IS a great actor. I tend to be pretty modest at times, but I'm just a blue-collar guy from New Jersey. What do I have to brag about? If I had as much fame and success as Ben Kingsley, I'm not gonna lieI'd be full of myself too. Hey, it's not like he's one of these no-talent movie actors who's doing direct-to-video movies now and think they're the greatest."
Who cares if he's good at pretending to be other people? That doesn't make him someone important. Actors are way too full of themselves, considering they're nothing more than glorified puppets. Ghandi should have gotten the knighthood, not the tool who impersonated him. -

I think this policy of his might land him in a rather awkward situation. How might he react when he's working with another "Sir" like Michael Caine (who was knighted before Kingsley was) who insists on being simply called "Michb68ael" while he insists on being called "Sir Ben"? I'd be rather ashamed if I were in his place.

He is a great actor one of the best out there but I saw him in an interview and I think I listened to some kind of commentary for one his movies and I thought the same thing about him. I thought I was the only one who noticed that about him. It's a shame because I admire him as an actor so much but insisting everyone call you Sir is just ridiculous. He hasn't cured cancer he's just a great actor! There are great actors who seem totally cool and down to earth and unpretentious like Anthony Hopkins!

Don't know if he is a snob or not, never met him. I wouldn't be surprised. But then again, there are a multitude of snobs out here in the world. And I have to deal with them every day. At least SIR Ben entertains us and isn't just an ass w/o talent.
It is kind of sad to hear that he insists on the title being used. Out of respect, I would call anyone who was knighted sir anyway, you wouldn't have to tell me. If you have to insist on respect, maybe you don't deserve it.
Just my 2 cents.
PS. Still love his work though.

I just saw the extras from the Gandhi-dvd, with the interview of Kinsley. I had no idea he was so so.. confident and , just bragging about stuff.
He IS a great actor and impersonator, dont get me wrong. But in the end, I think that kind of "behaving" backfires. People (like me) won't have that humble idea of him anymore But then again, he had me fooled because of his acting skills. -

I HAVE met him, actually. He does, apparently, insist that people address him as Sir Ben, but other than that, I've rarely worked with a more pleasant actor. He was very friendly, and very generous with praise and assistance to his fellow actors (including me! And I'm a complete nobody!).
So while I don't doubt that he was completely full of his own s**t back when he filmed Gandhi, that was a long time ago. That was what his second film role ever? I think he's mellowed. -

I just heard today that he has been approached to play Davros, the creator of the Daleks, in the next season of Doctor Who. I wonder if he'll be miffed because there's already been a knight on the show before him? That knight being one Sir Derek Jacobi, who to my mind has had a career worthy of a knighthood, and the personality to not let it go to his head.

I have also got the great honour of meeting Sir Ben and I have to say, HE IS THE MOST AMAZING, HUMBLE CELEBRITY I EVER MET!
SO KINDSO GENEROUS, gracious, confidant, intelligent, HOT & RESPECTABLE!
I too am a virtual nobody and he spoke and treated me with such dignity and respect I was absolutly blown away by it.
I love him, LOL! -

Well, it's quite clear that none of you haters really have met Sir Be16d0n in person(yes, I don't mind saying it).
That being said, you're all just basically judging him as a person by what you've read/seen about his behaviour on tabloids or gossip columns.
