One year, not so long ago, at the Academy Awards, five former winners in each category came out and introduced one of the nominees. It was a great idea - maybe they've done it since. I started to feel the hackles rise a little when they introduced Anthony Hopkins, then Sir Ben Kingsley. Kingsley introduced Frank Langella for his role as former President Nixon in the Nixon-Frost interview movie. He said that Langella had produced the BEST depection of Nixon that had EVER been filmed. Beside him stood Anthony Hopkins, who had been brilliant in Oliver Stone's "Nixon". Langella is absolutely wonderful, no doubt. But I surmise that even he was taken aback at the arrogant snub that had just been spoken about Anthony Hopkins, standing by his side, on live TV. I thought that the demand to be called "Sir" all the time was bad enough; this was downright rude. No more respect from me for Ben - great actor that he is. Maybe I'll change my mind when Sir Caine, Sir John, Sir McCartney, and Sir Jagger all make the same demand. Uhh - take that back they still need to create a Sir Richards.

I cant bear to reply this before someone judge him as arrogant because of wrong information.
The man who introduced Frank Langella was Michael Douglas. Instead, Sir Ben Kingsley introduced Mickey Rourke with incredibly speech.

It's not as though he has much to be modest about. The man nails every performance I've seen.
Rationality is a superficial veneer on the human condition.

He's a beeping arrogant arse in real-life though, just because you're a wonderful actor doesn't mean you get to treat everyone with nastiness and condescension. The man is a prick.

True, talent wouldn't excuse it. But what are you basing the imputation on? I've only gathered that he takes himself seriously.

You people are calling him arrogant but anyone who can't enjoy a good performance because of the actor's personal life needs to get over themselves. I don't know the guy. Some say he's arrogant while others say he's nice. Maybe he's somehow both since it is not absolutely impossible. Maybe it depends on the mood he's in or maybe he's just a prick who likes to act douchey around certain people.
The thing is, people shouldn't care that much. You don't have to respect someone as a person in order to respect and appreciate their work. Let's take Klaus Kinski, for instance. I believe his daughters when they talk about the awful things he tried to do/did to them because there was something wrong with him and anyone could tell. He belonged in an institution. However, he was a brilliant actor, I'll give him that. It's the truth and there's no reason why I should deny it. I myself couldn't stand Richard Harris. I didn't like the guy but hell, what a great actor he was! His son is very talented too.
Refusing to pay for Ben Kingsley's movies just because you don't like him doesn't seem very logical to me. You're not only "punishing" one man, you are "punishing" ALL the people that worked in order to make that movie because of one guy you've probably never met and who did nothing to you (at least in most cases). Very mature. Of course, you're free to do that and you're free to believe it actually affects him or what other people think of his performance. But it doesn't because most people don't know much about his personal life and I doubt they care and that's why they'll continue watching
                      his movies.
This wasn't meant for the OP btw, since he/she never really replied to anyone around here and I don't know how he/she feels about this.

Refusing to pay a douche is a way of fighting douches.
If you, and everyone else pay to see he's movies, it will generate him fame and money. It's as simple as that. Dont over-complicate it.
