The shooter is Artur A., โโa 21-year-old Austrian from a suburb of Graz.
Initial photos show the perpetrator.
Artur A. โ He worried about the cat in his suicide note.
Artur lived with his single mother, also Austrian, in Kalsdorf near Graz.
His father was Armenian by birth.
"Forgiveness for what I'm about to do"
New details emerged about the farewell video that the school shooter sent to his mother via cell phone shortly before the crime. He asked for forgiveness for
"what I'm about to do now"
. He then thanked his mother for the
"care"
she had given him. According to investigators, the mother opened the video 24 mins after receiving it โ by which time the massacre was already committed and Artur himself was dead.
Priorities in the Farewell Letter
In an additional farewell letter, Artur blamed the school and bullying for the crime.
He expressed concern for his cat. She should be cared for as best as possible after the massacre.

Teenagers as Victims
The day following the horrific crime is marked by the need to come to terms with the events.
The youngest victim is only 14 years old, while the nine other teenagers were between the ages of 15 - 17. A teacher also died at the age of 59.
Artur had a weapons possession card, a document authorizing the purchase and possession, but not the carrying of Category B firearms. The weapon must be transported unloaded in a locked container, e.g. to a shooting range. A firearms license is required to carry a firearm. The perpetrator himself likely used a pistol and a shotgun at the crime scene.
How the injured are doing
Six patients are still in the LKH University Hospital. Four of them are in the intensive care unit, and two were already transferred to the general ward. One person who was in critical condition on Tuesday is now in stable condition.
Austria-wide Minute of Silence
A minute of silence was held across Austria at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Local churches participated with the pealing of bells. In Vienna, the funeral bell

of St. Stephen's Cathedral was also rung.
Relief forces secure a memorial service in Graz.
Public transport across the country came to a standstill for one minute. The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) interrupted its TV and radio programs, and Vienna's public transport system (Wiener Linien) halted approximately 900 vehicles. A minute's silence was also observed at the beginning of the Council of Ministers meeting.
