my hubby and i just watched the producers yesterdayit was fantastic!!! it took us over 3 hours to watch it. i had to keep pausing and rewinding it because my husband kept laughing so hard that i couldn't hear it!!!! nathan lane is one of the few people that my husband adores!! his facial expressions are priceless!!! he just cracks us up!!!

Why can't he be both?
Yes, several of his roles have been gay but you say that like they were all the same character.
And though he has played gay men in quite a few things he's also played straight men, a cat, a lion, a hippo, a dog, an alien and a meerkat (Did I miss anything?)
Oh and a Broadway producer - which we all know is a much lower life form ;o) -

Hi,
At the risk of stating the obvious, Nathan's sexuality is not relevant. I'm replying to this post because I'm watching The Producers tonight and so enjoyed Nathan in The Birdcage (a.k.a. Birds of a Feather); Nathan is a joy to watch, a real entertainer, amusing and talented, a pleasure to watch on screen. Nathan's campness is all 1908him (straight or gay), he is splendid and marvellous!
Please keep doing what you do Nathan, you're FAB!!!

Sort of I jsut thought he was a really quirky straight man which made it really funny watching his movies and stuff Now it's sort of like.. Oh, it's cause he's homosexual that he acts that way, not cause he's a strange man.

If the guy says he's gay, it means he's gay. Not bi, not straight, not flamboyently ambiguous. GAY. And you know what? IT'S OKAY. He's a good guy and a brilliant actor, so the whole gay thing should be a side-note, not the main thing that defines him. Why is it our society is so focused on people's personal lives and not on their talents? And also, why is our society so homophobic? It's not like he's out to get you or anything. He's not going to grab your kids and say, "Hey childrenbe like me. Be GAY!" No, I'm pretty sure that he understands it's a choice.

I love Nathan Lane. He's so enthusiastic and captivating. Watch him in anything and try not to smile. Probably won't happen. And his talent is not derived from his sexual orientation. Just like anybody else, not all gay men can sing. Or act, dance, and be hilarious in general. That's just his unique personality, and regardless of who he loves, we should love him for the sheer wonder he brings to anything he's a part of.
